We want to help companies and individuals recognize and avoid risks. No matter if the risks are technical or human. In order to offer this, we have put together a team of security researchers, developers and consultants who work daily on this goal.
The people in AWARE7 define the company, so every person receives 26 days of paid leave, a 38 -hours work week, Friday afternoon to work on your own projects, a generous budget for professional and personal development and a reasonable salary. In addition, the birthday is an additional, free day – who likes working on their birthday! In 2018, for example, we have organized more than 200 events in which we have trained more than 15,000 users to deal with IT safely and trustworthily.
In addition, we have conducted several safety tests and advanced our software. We value a distributed, inclusive and friendly work environment in which we can benefit from the diverse perspectives of our team. We are collaborative, curious and respectful – it is important to us that everyone feels comfortable and brings in their ideas and views. Organizationally we have set up a strong, effective and distributed company:
Wherever possible, we form local and remote teams. We invest in communication so that we can benefit from the different perspectives. We use digital meetings, slack and events where all people participate together. We look forward to welcoming you to our team. Take a look at our current job postings:
Our current openings are listed here
We are looking forward to your application!
Please send us a short e-mail with your CV and a current (work) allowance, so that we can learn a bit about you. The application can be initiative, just send us an application to firstname.lastname@example.org and we can make an appointment to talk about your options with us without any obligation.
If you and we believe that we could fit together well, we are happy to interview you:
The application process
We try to get to know each other as well as possible and to find out if we fit together. In the end, you should know us and we should know you. For this we usually carry out the following process:
First digital meet (~ 20min)
- What are your goals?
- What are your experiences?
- Your questions
On-site interview in Gelsenkirchen (alternatively: Remote)
- We show you the office and how we work
- You tell us how you imagine working with us and we answer your questions
- We solve a small, typical task (about 30-60min) together
- Afterwards we go for lunch and have a typical ruhr speciality (meatless if you prefer)
- We talk about your and our experiences to this point
Decision Making Process
Afterwards we say goodbye to each other. We give ourselves and you a few days to think about the decision. Often a new job also means a change of residence, which should not be broken over the knee.
We will contact you within one week and if you are still convinced to start with us we will prepare the contracts and look forward to having you on board.
Your first day
So you chose us and now your first day is with us. Do not worry, we’ve written down the typical first steps here for us:
Setting up the desk
We’ll show you your desk and you can make yourself comfortable there. You get a laptop from us. You can choose between a MacBook Pro, a Windows laptop or a Linux machine.
Setting up the computer
You receive a mailbox from us and there are invitations to different services we use internally. Our wiki system, Slack, developer tools and so on. Take your time setting this up. Take a look around, for example in the Slack channels and ask questions, if something is unclear. You may be able to write new entries in the wiki for new employees after you. You can create business cards and insert an e-mail signature. The instructions can be found in the wiki.
After all the training and setup you probably need coffee, mate, tea or water. Our kitchen is quite small, so please take care of order and cleanliness. It helps everyone not to put away dirty cups or dishes.
- Coffee and tea: The coffee machine is actually self-explanatory, but we are happy to help you with any questions. (Oat) milk is in the fridge.
- Cold drinks: Do you find in the fridge or storage. Please refill the drinks you have taken so that no one in the office has to drink warm cola
- Food: You’re welcome to use the microwave or stove to make food (warm).
You’re welcome to eat or eat in the office, but especially in the summer we like to go out somewhere to have lunch. This can be in the park or in a restaurant. We have several restaurants we tested and supermarkets within walking distance marked on this map.
At some point you have to (actually) start working with us as well. You should have been assigned a project and can start. If you have any questions, feel free to ask anytime. We’re happy to help.
“Feierabend” is getting closer, so one last thing: Please track your working time. We have tools for that and instructions are available in the wiki. If you have any questions, ask one of us and we’ll be happy to help.
That was it, the first day with us. We usually end at seven o’clock in the evening at latest, usually at four o’clock on Fridays. Enjoy the evening. Either you end the evening with us on the terrace, in one of the many parks or you explore the Ruhr area. We have a lot to offer here.
What you can do in the Ruhr area
We have a lot to offer here in Gelsenkirchen and in the Ruhr area. There are more than gray houses and gray skies here. Go out and discover the beautiful Ruhr area. We just collected a few things on two Google maps that we like.
Green Ruhr Area
The Ruhr area is green. We’ve got you on this leisure map our favorite places in the green gathered. This map is constantly updated.
Pilsken, football and nightlife
There is a lot to experience and discover in the Ruhr area around football and nightlife. We’ve got everything summarized in this pilsken map. Whether it’s relaxing in the evening, or celebrating until the early hours of the morning – everything is possible in the Ruhr area.
Of course there is also culture in the Ruhr area. A few suggestions, from zoos over theaters to concert halls, we summarized on our map.
